Koelbel and Company: The company behind Rendezvous

By: Tyler Macleod

In 1952, a young man by the name of Walter A. Koelbel founded a residential brokerage firm under the name of Koelbel and Company. As the automobile became a common possession for American families, and the country expanded its infrastructure to allow for a greater ease of traveling, Koelbel saw a window of opportunity in the realm of land development.[/vc_column_text][vc_wp_text]

[/vc_wp_text][vc_column_text]Acquiring land and property outside of the Denver area, Koelbel soon built a strong foundation for what would become a well respected and highly successful real estate venture.

In 2017, over six decades after the then twenty-six-year-old Koelbel started his venture, Koelbel and Company stands as a brand dedicated to not only providing quality products to its consumers, but to partnering for the greater good.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8570″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Alongside residential developments such as the Pinehurst Country Club in Denver, mountain resort properties such as Rendezvous, and commercial projects such as Centennial Promenade, Koelbel and Company takes great pride in giving back to its communities through extensive corporate citizenship.

Today, Koelbel and Company supports the people of the great state of Colorado through numerous partnerships and foundations, including a strong relationship with the CU Leeds School of Business, where three generations of Koelbels have since graduated. The Koelbel building was dedicated in October of 2007, and aims to serve the University of Colorado and the Leeds School of Business in educating the future workforce.[/vc_column_text][vc_wp_text]

[/vc_wp_text][vc_column_text]The Koelbel Library, which was completed in 1992, is the main facility of the Arapahoe Library District, serving countless youth and adults in the Cherry Creek and surrounding areas. In Greenwood Village, Koelbel and Company assisted in the execution and donation of land for the 55-acre Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve, which stand as a gorgeous, natural sanctuary located in the Denver Metro Area.

Koelbel and Company has also established two foundations to further serve the people of its surrounding communities. Established in 1996, the Koelbel Family Foundation supports various organizations such as the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, to Goodwill Industries and the Sewell Child Development Center. And in conjunction with Rendezvous, Koelbel takes an active role in the Grand County community through dedication to educational opportunities based around the historical and natural preservation of the area through the Rendezvous Foundation.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8565″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]But Koelbel and Company’s dedication to serving its communities and preserving the surrounding heritage and natural resources shouldn’t come as much of a surprise for those familiar with the brand. Late in his life, Walter A. Koelbel, Sr. stated to members of the Urban Land Institute, “We have to protect the land and use it wisely. What we do literally affects everybody in how they live, work, shop, study, worship, recreate and travel.

Since 1985, Walter A. “Buz” Koelbel, Jr. has carried his father’s mantra in leading the direction of Koelbel and Company; ensuring that the brand continues to expand its scope, while also working to protect the natural landscape of Colorado. Today, Koelbel and Company stands as the longest operating family owned real estate development firm in the area.
