Heck’s Tavern

Hecks Tavern at Devils Thumb Ranch

Inspired by the world famous Timberline Lodge in Mt. Hood, Oregon, Heck’s Tavern seeks the same level of excellence that allowed the Timberline to be dedicated as a National Historic Landmark by President Roosevelt in 1937.

The two restaurants share a striking resemblance. When the new owners of the Devil’s Thumb Ranch visited the Timberline in 1999, they were so taken by the beauty of its hexagonal shape that they were inspired to replicate the same striking features in the design of the Tavern.

Beautiful, all natural resources were used to construct Heck’s Tavern to keep it true to the area and culture. The giant beams and posts are 800 years old Douglas Fir from Vancouver Island. The siding is larch, and the stone fireplace was built with rocks from a nearby rockslide.

Taste and Innovative Cuisine

Heck’s is known for its exceptional taste of inventive ranch fare. Offering crafty cocktails, hand- selected wines from its private cellar, and dishes served fresh from on-ranch produce and livestock is all part of bringing classic tastes to the modern day with a fresh twist.

If you’re just starting your day, the Breakfast Menu includes baked goods, bowls, and griddle options.

The Bakery Menu is perfect for skiers and snowboarders with a sweet tooth. You can enjoy your choice of the Cast Iron Cinnamon Roll, the Buttermilk Biscuits, or the House-Cured Salmon Avocado Toast.

Looking for a hearty meal packed with protein? Heck’s bowls are for you! Choose between the Steel Cut Oatmeal, an Acai Bowl (with granola, acai berry puree, banana, and other tasty fruits), the Yogurt & Granola Bowl, the Simply Fruit Bowl, and the Fresh from the Orchard Bowl.

For lunch and dinner, try one of ten Entrees or one of nine Burgers & Sandwiches.

Included on the Entrees menu are the Garden & Grains, Smoked Pork Loin Chop, Chicken & Dumplings, Wild Caught Salmon, Vegetable Ditalini Pasta, Smoked Baby Back Ribs, and an 18 oz. Bone-In Ribeye.

Wagyu Beef

Also as part of the Entrees menu at The Devil’s Thumb Ranch, Heck’s Tavern also offers a mouth-watering list of Wagyu Beef entrees, including the Wagyu Burger, the Wagyu Chicken Fried Steak, Wagyu Skirt Steak, Wagyu Meatloaf, and the Wagyu BBQ Ranch Burger.

A herd now 150 strong, the Devil’s Thumb Ranch Wagyu cattle are raised and grazed on local high altitude grass. Their protein and nutrient-rich diet give the beef its signature flavor profile.

Under Burgers & Sandwiches, enjoy your choice of the Heck’s BLT, the Buffalo Burger, the Smoked Turkey, and much more. Each burger or sandwich includes a choice of fries or the Farms Green Salad.
